How to Sell on TikTok in October 2026

How to Sell on TikTok in October 2026

TikTok changed quite a lot this year.

If you’re still doing:

viral video → link in bio → pray

you’re missing a lot of the platform.

TikTok is increasingly becoming the whole buying journey:

DISCOVER → SEARCH → COMPARE → ASK → BUY

And October is probably one of the best months to test it.

TikTok itself recommends using September and October to test creatives, CTAs and placements before Black Friday, then scaling the winners. (TikTok’s Black Friday guide)

So here is what we’d actually do right now.

1. Make videos for SEARCH, not only the For You page

A specific search query leads to an opinion backed by product testing.

This is becoming huge.

TikTok says 57% of users use search, and 23% search for something within 30 seconds of opening the app. (TikTok’s Search Ads announcement)

So stop naming videos like this:

❌ “Something we learned this week”

❌ “You need to see this”

❌ “Our thoughts on skincare”

Use the phrase somebody would actually search:

✅ “Best winter moisturizer for dry skin”

✅ “Best AI website builder in 2026”

✅ “Nike Pegasus vs ASICS Novablast”

✅ “How to remove background noise from video”

✅ “Best gift for someone who already has everything”

Then actually SAY that phrase in the video.

Put it on screen.

Put it naturally in the caption.

You are basically doing SEO inside TikTok now.

A stupidly simple content formula:

[EXACT THING PEOPLE SEARCH]

+

[STRONG OPINION / RESULT]

+

[PROOF]

For example:

“Best cheap microphone for TikTok? We tested 6 under $100. This $39 one was weirdly the best.”

Now the video can work in search AND in the feed.

2. Show the product immediately

Show the product and its result in the first three seconds, then add context.

Don’t spend 8 seconds introducing yourself.

People want to know:

What is it?

What does it do?

Why should I care?

For physical products:

Show it working.

For SaaS:

Show the screen.

For a service:

Show the result.

For fashion:

Show it ON someone.

For food:

Cut it open.

For something visual:

Before → after.

A good first three seconds can literally be:

“This removes video backgrounds in one click.”

while the background is already disappearing on screen.

Or:

“This is what €30 gets you on Temu vs IKEA.”

while both products are already visible.

Context can come afterwards.

3. Stop making advertisements that look like advertisements

Creator demonstrations, comparisons and reviews can become amplified product content.

A polished studio shot can still work.

But TikTok gives you access to something much more powerful:

people demonstrating the product like normal people.

Unboxing.

Comparison.

Review.

Tutorial.

“I bought this because…”

“I’ve used this for 30 days…”

“Here’s the annoying thing nobody tells you…”

“X vs Y…”

TikTok’s own Black Friday guidance specifically recommends creator content and Spark Ads, which let brands amplify existing TikTok posts rather than rebuilding everything as conventional ads. (TikTok’s Black Friday guide)

A useful creator brief can be this simple:

PRODUCT:
[product]

CUSTOMER:
[who buys it]

DO NOT write a polished ad script.

Create 5 TikTok concepts based on:

1. Problem → demonstration
2. X vs competitor
3. "I didn't expect this to work"
4. Answering a common buyer question
5. Showing one unusual feature

The product must appear in the first 3 seconds.

Each concept should contain:
- opening sentence
- first visual
- demonstration
- proof
- CTA

Avoid:
"you won't believe this"
"game changer"
"must have"
generic enthusiasm
fake reactions

4. Answer the question blocking the purchase

Turn a buyer’s Android compatibility question into a demonstration video.

This is probably one of the most underused TikTok sales tactics.

Look at the comments.

People will literally tell you why they haven’t bought yet.

“Does it work on Android?”

Make a video.

“Is this actually waterproof?”

Make a video.

“Why is this better than the $20 Amazon version?”

Make a video.

“Does it ship to Germany?”

Make a video.

“Can I use it without a subscription?”

Make a video.

Your FAQ is now your content calendar.

And these videos have another advantage:

They tend to target people already much closer to buying.

Compare:

“5 productivity tips”

with:

“Is Notion AI actually worth paying for?”

The second viewer potentially has their wallet halfway out already.

5. Use TikTok’s NEW shopping AI

A shopper sees a product, asks about size, receives an answer and proceeds to buy.

This is where October 2026 gets interesting.

On October 5, TikTok announced several new commerce tools.

Shopping Assistant can answer buying questions using merchant-provided information on the product page within TikTok’s in-app browser.

Buy Direct is designed to let people purchase directly from a brand with fewer steps, with native checkout, saved payment details and in-app order tracking.

TikTok also announced Lead Agent, which can qualify potential customers through AI-guided conversations. These tools are available through eligibility-based testing; TikTok directs interested advertisers to their sales partner. (TikTok’s October 5 announcement)

Translation:

Someone could increasingly go:

SEES PRODUCT

↓

"does this come in size M?"

↓

AI ANSWERS

↓

"okay"

↓

BUY

That means boring product information suddenly matters a LOT.

Make sure your product data clearly explains:

PRICE

VARIANTS

SIZES

WHO IT IS FOR

SHIPPING

RETURNS

AVAILABILITY

MATERIAL

COMPATIBILITY

SUBSCRIPTION

LIMITATIONS

TOP QUESTIONS

TOP OBJECTIONS

AI cannot magically fix bad product information.

If your entire description is:

“Experience the future of effortless innovation.”

good luck.

6. October = TEST. November = SCALE.

Three hooks times three angles times two styles produce eighteen creative tests.

This is probably the most useful timing advice in this whole post.

Don’t wait until Black Friday week and produce one giant campaign.

TikTok itself recommends testing during September and October and scaling what works later. (TikTok’s Black Friday guide)

So take ONE product.

Create:

3 hooks

× 3 angles

× 2 creators/styles

= 18 pieces of creative

You don’t necessarily need 18 completely different shoots.

Change the first few seconds.

Change the argument.

Change the framing.

For example, selling the SAME backpack:

ANGLE 1: problem

“If your laptop charger destroys the inside of your backpack…”

ANGLE 2: comparison

“$39 backpack vs the $180 one I used before.”

ANGLE 3: specific audience

“If you fly with only a personal item, look at this.”

Then test.

Don’t guess which one is “more creative”.

Let people tell you.

7. Sell the RESULT before the feature

Turn automatic captions into a concrete outcome: eight subtitled TikToks before lunch.

This:

“Our editor uses an AI segmentation model.”

is useful documentation.

This:

“Remove the background from 40 product photos in 2 minutes.”

is TikTok content.

Same feature.

Much clearer reason to care.

A simple formula:

FEATURE
↓
SO WHAT?
↓
SO WHAT?
↓
VISIBLE RESULT

Example:

Feature: automatic captions

So what?

You don’t manually type subtitles.

So what?

Editing takes less time.

So what?

“Turn a 20-minute interview into 8 subtitled TikToks before lunch.”

There is the content.

8. If you have TikTok Shop, remove as much friction as possible

Identify organic videos that sell, amplify the winners and make purchasing easy.

TikTok Shop ads can appear across the feed, search and shopping surfaces. GMV Max automates creative selection and placements for Shop campaigns. (TikTok’s GMV Max guide)

The basic strategy is not complicated:

viral organic content

↓

identify videos that sell

↓

amplify winners

↓

make purchasing stupidly easy

↓

repeat

And if TikTok Shop isn’t available for your market/product, the same principle applies to your website.

Mobile page.

Fast loading.

Product shown immediately.

Clear price.

Clear CTA.

No 600-word brand manifesto before somebody can find the Buy button.

9. Steal your next videos from your customers

Real customer comments, reviews and questions become a brief for twenty sales videos.

Here is a prompt worth saving.

Copy your TikTok comments, reviews, DMs, support tickets and search queries.

Then run:

Here are real comments, DMs, reviews and customer questions about our product:

[PASTE DATA]

We want to sell more through TikTok.

Analyze ONLY the information provided.

Find:

1. The 10 most common questions before purchase.
2. The 10 strongest objections.
3. The 10 phrases customers repeatedly use.
4. The biggest competitor comparisons.
5. The biggest misconceptions.
6. The outcomes customers care about most.

Then create 20 TikTok video ideas.

For each video give:

SEARCH QUERY:
What someone might type into TikTok.

HOOK:
Maximum 12 words.

FIRST VISUAL:
What should appear in the first 2 seconds.

VIDEO:
What we actually show.

PROOF:
Screenshot, demonstration, number, review or comparison.

CTA:
Natural next action.

Prioritize purchase intent over generic virality.

Do not invent customer problems, statistics or experiences.

That one prompt can probably generate better sales content than a month of:

“give us 50 viral TikTok ideas.”

So the October 2026 TikTok playbook is pretty straightforward

A compact TikTok sales path: search, demonstration, proof, answers and purchase.

Make searchable videos.

Show the product immediately.

Demonstrate instead of describing.

Turn objections into videos.

Use creators as creators, not actors reading your script.

Test aggressively in October.

Scale the winners in November.

Make buying stupidly easy.

And pay attention to the bigger change happening underneath all of this.

TikTok is becoming much more than an entertainment feed.

Search Ads are targeting people actively looking for products. TikTok says 57% of users use its search function. Shopping Assistant can help answer buying questions. Buy Direct is reducing steps between discovery and purchase. (TikTok Search Ads, TikTok’s agentic tools)

So the question is slowly changing from:

“How do we go viral on TikTok?”

to:

“How do we turn TikTok searches, views and questions into sales?”

That is probably the more useful question for Q4 2026.

We’re putting together our TikTok Q4 Sales Kit with the search-content prompt, 30 hook formulas and October testing matrix.
